Using Roastr

How to log your first brew

Logging a brew is how you build a history of what you made and how it tasted. Each brew records the coffee, your brew settings, a star rating, and tasting notes. Here is how to log your first one.

Before you start

You need at least one coffee in your account. If you do not have one yet, add it first — see How to add a coffee you bought.

Steps

  1. Open the brewing section and start a new brew.
  2. Pick your coffee from the list. You can add a new coffee inline if it is not there yet.
  3. Choose a brew method — pour over, espresso, French press, and so on. Roastr can pre-fill suggested settings from the method.
  4. Enter your brew details. Record the values that apply, such as dose in grams, grind size, water temperature, and brew time.
  5. Rate the cup. Give it a star rating from 1 to 5.
  6. Add tasting notes. Depending on your account's tasting preset, you will see either a simple set of notes or the advanced form with more attributes to score.
  7. Save the brew.

Quick log mode

If you just want to record that you made a coffee without filling in every field, turn on Quick log mode. It strips the form down to the essentials so you can log a brew in seconds. Quick-logged brews skip the detailed tasting notes — switch quick log off when you want to capture a full tasting.

Tips

  • Roastr can pre-fill brew settings from your most recent brew of the same coffee, so dialing in gets faster over time.
  • You can edit a brew later if you forgot a detail.
