Using Roastr

How to add a coffee you bought

When you buy a bag of coffee, add it to Roastr so you can brew and rate it. This is the "I bought it" flow — for coffee you purchased rather than roasted yourself.

Steps

  1. Open the coffee section and choose to add a coffee. You can also add a coffee inline while logging a brew.
  2. Pick the roaster or store. Select the roaster you bought from, or add a new one if it is not in your list yet. You can include the roaster's website.
  3. Enter the coffee details. Add the coffee's name and any details you know — things like origin and roast level.
  4. Record the purchase. Add the purchase date, and the roast date if it is printed on the bag. Roast date helps you track freshness.
  5. Save it to your collection.

After you add it

Your coffee now appears in your collection and is ready to brew. Head to the brewing section, start a new brew, and select it — see How to log your first brew.

Tips

  • If you buy the same coffee again, you can record a new purchase against the existing coffee instead of creating a duplicate.
  • The more details you add — roaster, origin, roast level — the easier it is to compare coffees later.
  • Roast date is worth recording: it lets Roastr show you how fresh a coffee was when you brewed it.
